Independent, unofficial site Free, no payment

No site officially sells the Belgian vignette before the announced start of sales (2 April 2027).

Do not pay anything today: anyone asking you to pay now is not an official channel and may be a scammer.

The essentials

One vignette. Three Regions. No sticker.

Belgium plans a common digital road vignette for Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. From 1 May 2027 it would be mandatory on motorways and regional roads for a car, van or motorhome of up to 3.5 t, registered in Belgium or abroad.

It would be offered online for 1 day, 10 days, 1 month, 2 months or 1 year; the price depends on the vehicle’s Euro emission standard. In Flanders, it would come with a reform of the annual road tax for fossil-fuel passenger cars that are not lease cars; Wallonia expects it to be broadly tax-neutral for Walloon motorists. The texts are still drafts.

100% digital

Linked to the number plate: nothing to stick on the windscreen. The taxpayer is the person in whose name the number plate is registered. According to the announcements, checks would rely on automatic number plate recognition and mobile teams.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I already buy the vignette?

No. Sales are announced to open on 2 April 2027, online on the official site or through an approved partner organisation, subject to final approval. Any site asking for payment today is not an official channel.

Do I need a sticker on my windscreen?

No. The vignette is digital and linked to the number plate. The taxpayer is the person in whose name the number plate is registered.

Do Belgians pay too?

Yes. The Flemish Government invokes the European principle of non-discrimination: the vignette would apply to residents and foreign drivers alike.

Do cross-border (frontier) workers need a vignette?

Yes. Under the announced rules there is no general exemption for cross-border workers or for border territories. A Flemish ministerial written answer published on 19 October 2026 states that no general border-area exemptions were planned. On 6 October 2026, in the Flemish Parliament committee, Minister Weyts rejected a geographic exemption as discriminatory. Short-duration vignettes are also announced for occasional use. Final conditions depend on the adopted texts.

I only drive on local roads — am I affected?

No. According to the Flemish Tax Service, the vignette is not needed if you only drive on local roads. It targets motorways and regional roads.

When do fines start?

The official sources cited announce neither a separate date nor a tolerance period. Under the Flemish preliminary draft decree, the rules, fines included, would enter into force on 1 May 2027. Proposed amounts: €70, €140 for a second offence, €210 from the third.

Do historic or O-plate vehicles need a vignette?

The official sources cited do not list a vignette exemption for historic vehicles (including Belgian O-plates). Under the announced rules they would be treated like other cars up to 3.5 t, with the tariff based on the Euro standard — often the Euro 0–3 band (€125 per year). Short-duration vignettes are also announced for occasional use. In Wallonia, the planned cut of the annual circulation tax for O-plate collection vehicles from 1 April 2027 is a separate measure, not a vignette exemption. A Walloon parliamentary question of 2 October 2026 on this point still has no published ministerial answer establishing an exemption. Final conditions depend on the adopted texts.

Will my annual road tax change because of the vignette?

In Flanders, the vignette would come with a reform of the annual road tax for fossil-fuel passenger cars that are not lease cars. Wallonia expects the measure to be broadly tax-neutral for Walloon motorists. The texts are still drafts — this is not a final tax bill.

How will checks work?

According to the announcements, checks would rely on automatic number plate recognition and mobile teams. There is no sticker: the vignette is linked to the number plate, and the taxpayer is the person in whose name the plate is registered.

Is the vignette only for Belgium?

No. This site covers the Belgian road vignette planned for 2027 in depth. For everything about European vignettes, see autovig.eu.

Does this site sell the vignette?

No. Vignette 2027 is an independent information site, published by RAENBI GROUP BV. It does not sell vignettes and processes no payments.
